So here I am in 96-degree weather. I’m stuck at a gas station with no air conditioning and my phone isn’t working properly. It is freezing up and cutting on and off for no reason. I was able to call my husband who had the day off and was at home with the kids. He wasn’t planning on going anywhere, so I took the van that had the working air conditioning, but also had all of the car seats. He called the tow truck, packed the kids into the car, and came to save me. The tow truck was late. We waited for three hours in the smoldering heat with the babies in the back seat.
Although all of this seems horrible, it could have been worse! I sat drenched in sweat in perfect peace. I thank God that this happened to me on a day that my husband had off work and the babies weren’t stranded with me on my errands. While my car dying is tragic, how convenient to die pulled over at a gas station and not in the middle of the road. Although we were hot and hungry, we had access to the gas station store to buy water and snacks. While this is definitely an unexpected expense in a sea of other things that we need to take care of, our insurance company just sent us an unexpected check because of an overpayment that we had no idea that we made!
It’s all in our perspective. How we respond and how we view things is gaged by what we believe and what we feed our minds. God promises to care of all of our needs. He promises to never leave us. When we know this to be true we can rest in the difficult times knowing deliverance is coming!
Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
So as we dive into the Word of God soaking in all of His goodness, glory, and promises, we gain the mind of Christ. We can have peace in every situation because we know that He is going to work it out!
Today I encourage you to know that it is not as bad as it looks. God is working on your behalf. Ask Him to see with the eyes of Christ. Gain His perspective by getting into His Word. Don’t give up. There are blessings waiting for you that you haven’t even imagined yet!
Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
Father, we thank you that you are mindful of us in every situation. Forgive us for looking at how things go wrong instead of seeing your hand in our situation. We trust You and know that You will work ALL things together for our good. We want to be transformed by a renewed mind. Help us see things with the eyes of Christ. We believe that you are able to exceed our expectations. Give us peace in every situation. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
