HEAVEN'S GARDEN

Do You Know Why?

When I was a little girl, I used to get really frustrated at my father’s rules. At the time, many of them seemed to be a pointless way to control me. One of the rules of his house was to read the instructions to everything before using it. I couldn’t even play with my toys after Christmas unless I completed reading how to assemble, use, clean, and whatever else was in the instruction packet. I’ve done this with cameras, watches, curling irons, and video games to name a few. When I bought my own car at 17, the first question that he asked me was “did you read the owner’s manual?”

I didn’t realize then that he was teaching me a valuable lesson. He was teaching me the importance of not just having an idea of how something works, but also having understanding.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV)
7 Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.

He wanted me to comprehend the importance of knowing instead of assuming. He wanted me to know that there is sometimes an order that things must be done for them to work properly. He wanted me to know the risks that could take place if I didn’t operate it right and what to do if something went wrong. By the time I was grown I could put furniture together, handle simple maintenance on my car and whatever else I had good instructions for. I called myself a “can do kid”. I felt like if I could read instructions to fly an airplane then I could do that too. I worked my way up in many job situations by reading the company manual and teaching myself how to do different jobs.

A good father instructs his children and teaches them how to gain wisdom. I realize now that God has always been with me and outside of Him that I can do nothing. God’s grace allows us to grow and learn from our mistakes. Our God is the best Daddy and gives us the instruction manual for everything that He has called us to do.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a] your paths.

So many times God gives us a dream on the inside of us and we can clearly see the end result. We can see the big picture, but don’t know how to get there. We start moving towards it in our own strength before first asking for the instructions. Have you ever put something together by looking at the picture? Sometimes it can be successful, but there are times when you can get to a certain point and if you did anything out of order, then the whole thing is ruined. You either have to undo all of the work and start over, or throw it out if there was glue involved.

The little steps can make a big difference. I once worked a job where I wrote procedures for an operational manual. When the instructions were done, we would have someone who didn’t know how to do the job try by the instructions that were written. If the person couldn’t do the job it was because the instructions were missing “breathing” steps. These are steps that are done by someone who knows what they are doing without thinking (like turn power on).  If you don’t know where the power button is, then how can you turn it on?

God does not want us do guess at our assignments. He has given us all gifts. Do you know your instructions or did you get a glimpse of the future and just start running towards it? Revelation of a thing can drive our faith, but if we don’t know how to get there we can cause unnecessary delay and setbacks. We should always study to show ourselves approved and do everything as we are doing it for the Lord. Would you halfway do something if Jesus was coming to inspect it?

God’s Word will always confirm who we are. He speaks to us through everything. He will send people to help us, lead us to resources, and open and close doors. His Word will come alive and give us exactly what we need to do next. Dreams, visions, and angelic visitations can tell us what to do. God has sent the Holy Spirit to lead us and Guide us into all truth (John 16:13). As we go we should be praying without ceasing to get the next step (1Thessalonians 5:16-18). God will give us peace as we move forward in obedience and faith.

God’s gifts are given to us without repentance (Romans 11:29). This means that He doesn’t take them away. Unfortunately, too many people use their gifts without reading the instructions first and end up hurting a lot of people. If you are not using your gifts in love, joy peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23); then you’re not using them correctly. If you are not telling the truth in love, then you are ineffective. If you are moving forward by emotion/flesh, then you might be going the wrong way.

God is calling us to a new season of maturity. It is no longer good enough to know who we are. We must also know why we are. God wants us to impact the world with His glory. We must be strategic in learning how to move in our purpose and be everything that He has called us to be. We must carefully listen for His voice and obey in faith. He will give us everything that we need to advance in our assignments as we follow His instructions. Our gifts come with purpose that is uniquely designed for us. Why did He choose you? He chose you because Christ in you can do everything that He instructs you to do! Christ in you brings the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth. Christ in you is an overcomer and has victory.

Father we thank You that You have given us gifts and purpose. Forgive us for using our gifts without knowing the instructions. Show us how to seek You for every step so that we don’t do things out of order. We want our lives to give You glory by fulfilling the assignments that You have given us. We want to move forward in excellence and study to show ourselves approved. We want to do everything using the fruit of the spirit. We want to be lead by the Holy Spirit. We want to be sensitive to every way that You speak to us. Teach us how to wait and listen for your instructions. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Are You Stuck?

God’s Word promises to give us the desires of our hearts, but only first if we delight ourselves in Him (Psalm 37:4).  Verse 5 goes on to say if we commit or ways to Him and trust Him then He will bring them to pass. So why do we sometimes get stuck? In our limited imagination we often times put God in a box. We catch a glimpse of what He wants for us and run with it attaching our own agenda of what feels right in our flesh. We go to Him for deliverance and before we receive full instructions we start making things happen in our own strength. The desires of our heart are placed in us by God, but if we separate them from Him they will never bear the fruit that God intended. We have to separate our flesh because it is limited to desire only what we perceive is possible or what we feel is comfortable. This process can be grueling because as soon as we feel we are bearing fruit, He will prune us so that we may bear more fruit! This builds our faith, trust, character, and integrity. When we prove ourselves faithful to our process, He may then trust us with more.  When we put limits on God, it hinders Him from giving us His best. Our best is mediocre to say the least. His best is exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Just as He placed those desires in our heart, we must give them back to Him in return. We must diligently seek Him to receive our reward. This comes by faith and it pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). Faith comes by Hearing His Word (Romans 10:17). We can only hear His word if we are listening. We have to be intentional about listening to His full instructions instead of picking the parts we want to hear and running with it. We can’t assume that God is going to bless our efforts if we haven’t surrendered them to Him. We must stay connected to the Vine that causes our fruit to grow. We must allow Him to take away anything that is stunting our growth and be open to the bigger picture. His plans are greater! Expect more. Anticipate the best. What seems like setbacks are really preparing you for more! Don’t stop at the roadblock. Ask God how to breakthrough or even if He wants you to go in a different direction. Sometimes we are on the wrong road and God needs to redirect our route. The road that seems right may have detours that God does not want us to encounter.  When we abide in Him, His desires become our desires and then He can fulfill them.

John 15:1-8 (NKJV)
The True Vine
15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;[a] and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will[b] ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Father we thank You for the desires that You have placed in our hearts. Forgive us for limiting Your blessing by putting You in the box of our own imaginations. We want Your best. We want to produce more fruit. Lead us to the path that will collide with our purpose according to Your will. Help us see the bigger picture. We intentionally wait for Your instructions and move forward by faith. Keep us in Your perfect will as we put our trust in You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Take Your Mountain At Once!

We are entering into the promises of God! The only thing that will hold us back is unbelief. God has placed purpose and promise on the inside of all of us. The problem is that we have to climb up into the mountain which He directs us and take down the enemy that is currently occupying our territory (Numbers 13:17-20). This may seem impossible in our human flesh (it is), but with God ALL things are possible! When God calls us to something, He has already given us victory over it. Our job is to seek Him, listen to His instructions, believe, and obey. When Moses sent the spies into the Promised Land to scope out the territory, only two had the faith to believe the promise; Caleb who came from the tribe of Issachar and Joshua who came from the tribe of Ephraim. They carried the anointing that we must have in this season. The tribe of Issachar is known for knowing and understanding the times and the seasons (1 Chronicles 12:32) and Ephraim descended from Jacob who carries the blessing of Abraham. The blessing is repeated several times in the Bible, one of them being

Genesis 26:4 (NKJV)
4 And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;

God is giving us the land because we are in Christ. It is our inheritance!

Galatians 3:29 (NKJV)
29
And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Moses sent the spies into the mountains at the time of their first ripe grape harvest. Caleb knowing and understanding the times and seasons knew that it was God’s “now” time to overcome the enemies of those mountains and enjoy the fruit of the land!

Numbers 13:30-33
30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”

The people lacked faith and made excuses. They were looking at their own strength instead of the strength of their mighty God. They forgot what God had promised and didn’t want to claim their inheritance, but Joshua believed in his promise.

Numbers 14:6-10
6 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who wereamong those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; 7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. 8 If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’[a] 9 Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”
10
And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children of Israel.

Joshua knew that the Lord would give what He had promised. How much more should we believe having the overcoming power of the blood of Jesus! God has called us to go face the enemy of our mountain now. Their time is up. The Lord is with us. We cannot fear the enemy. We cannot fear the opinions of men who don’t believe. Just as the peers of Caleb and Joshua wanted to have them stoned, there will be ones that we thought were for us that will turn quickly because of their own fear. We must not stay behind with them but boldly take possession of our promise and conquer the enemy of our mountain. It is our Inheritance. We must not rebel against the Lord. He is looking for our obedience and for us to move quickly when he says go at once. We will surely overcome! Where has God called you to? What is the enemy you face? I encourage you today to spy out the land and set your eyes on the fruit. Know what God has promised and recognize God’s timing. Abundance is our portion and God’s kingdom will be multiplied by our obedience. We are overcomers and worldchangers. There is nothing too hard for our God!

Father we thank You for the blessing of Abraham which is our inheritance. We ask for the Issachar anointing to know and understand the times and seasons. Forgive us for unbelief, fear, and rebellion. We set our hearts towards the promise and know that we will overcome the enemy because You are with us. Give us eyes to see by faith. Help us not be discouraged or held back by people who don’t believe. Today we go up to the mountain by faith and receive what is rightfully ours. We claim our inheritance because the blessing of Abraham belongs to us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Declutter, Grow, Succeed!

1/4/2016

Like most people, I am starting the New Year strategizing, planning, and seeking how to implement successful patterns and healthy habits for this new season. In Christ, we should not only do this once a year, but checking ourselves frequently to see what is producing fruit. Transformation is a continuous process that comes from the renewing of our mind.

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

So as we declutter our lives of natural items that we no longer have use for, we should also be decluttering our minds of old mindsets and worldly thought patterns that will keep us from achieving to prove the perfect will of God for our lives. Different seasons bring new enemies that cause us to have to do things differently. They also bring greater revelation and blessing as we move to greater levels of faith and greater levels of glory.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)
18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Romans 1:17New  (NKJV)

17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

So every tree in our lives that bears no fruit needs to come down! Fruitless ventures cause frustration, confusion, and hindrances that cause us to be distracted from our purpose. God has given us ALL natural gifts and spiritual gifts. These are things that come naturally to us. We feel fulfilled when we use them and though others think they are amazing, we use them effortlessly and without much thought. Although our gifts come easy, because they have been giving according to God’s grace, they will not produce withstanding fruit until we intentionally engage, sharpen them, and study them to show ourselves approved. God has not given them to us for our own satisfaction and entertainment, but for His glory and advancement of His kingdom. It’s Not About Us, although we will benefit from being in synergy with them! Our gifts will make room for us.

Proverbs 18:16 (NKJV)
16 A man’s gift makes room for him,
And brings him before great men.

Not only will God always provide a place of provision to operate in our gifts, but He will also bring us before the greats of the industry. He wants to place honor on us as we make His name great by doing what He has created us to do and giving Him the glory. This applies to the natural as well as the spiritual gifts. If you are a hairdresser and you have mastered your gift and honor God with it, then you can expect to be recognized by the affluent and elect of your community and hold great influence in your sphere, all while doing hair. If you have a gift of prophecy then God will cause you to get the ear of leaders that hold power in the world systems so that you may speak words to activate and transform those arenas. God is strategic and merciful. He plants us in all kinds of different places to allow His grace to be known through us. Our gifts paired with the Holy Spirit and emerged in the love of God can change the world. So as you evaluate your fruit this season, I encourage you to step out in greater levels of faith and intentionally use your gifts for God’s glory. Promotion and increase are inevitable! You are called to greatness and God is making room to use what He already put on the inside of you! Success is your portion!

Father we thank you for the gifts that You have given us. Forgive us for not always using them for Your glory and forgetting that You gave them to us for Your purpose. Help us evaluate the fruit in our lives and remove any thing or any relationship that doesn’t produce good fruit. Help us grow in faith and glory as we transform by renewing our minds. We seek Your perfect will for our lives and we want to be intentional about walking in our purpose that is found in You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
