My husband had taken a few days off after a long stretch of working a lot of hours. My son is definitely a Daddy’s boy and often wakes up asking about him. My son was pleased to see His father for so many days in a row. With heartfelt emotion, he looked his daddy in his eyes and said “Sometimes I wake up with water in my eyes when you’re not here because I love you so much. I love you with all my heart. I love you with my whole body.” Wow, such powerful emotion coming from a 5-year-old. Daddies play such a powerful role in children’s lives, but somehow America has devalued their importance, leaving children with a void that they don’t understand.
Psalm 68:5-6
5 A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows,
Is God in His holy habitation.
6 God sets the solitary in families;
He brings out those who are bound into prosperity;
But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
Thank God that He is a father to the fatherless. The problem is that America has taken God out of everything. This leaves us a rebellious nation and in dry land instead of freedom and prosperity. It was never the Government’s job to take care of the widows and the orphans, but our country looks to welfare instead of the church(us) and gets left in a Godless cycle of poverty and fatherlessness. There are way too many orphans and widows, and the numbers will continue to grow if we continue to let lawlessness rule our country.
Just as my son needs his father. So does every other person on this earth. The only way to break the cycle of fatherlessness is to release the love of the Father. We must seek justice according to the Word of God. We must learn to do good and use our authority in Christ to rebuke, defend, and plead for our broken nation.
Isaiah 1:17
17 Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor;[a]
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.
We must choose to be a solution. We must take what we know about our God and share it with the world. We must not only share our testimony, but also our resources. We must have compassion and see every soul in the image of God. God wants us to physically be an answer. God promises, to heal, strengthen, and satisfy us when we do this.
Isaiah 58:6-12
6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
When you see the naked, that you cover him,
And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
“If you take away the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
10 If you extend your soul to the hungry
And satisfy the afflicted soul,
Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
11 The Lord will guide you continually,
And satisfy your soul in drought,
And strengthen your bones;
You shall be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
12 Those from among you
Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
We must raise the foundations for the generations to come. We have to restore and build for not only our children, but all of God’s children. If they don’t know us by our love, they will never know the love of the Father. My heart hurts for the broken homes in this nation. God is a God of covenant and family. We have to restore family according to the Word of God. We must stop trying to be so independent that we lose our dependence on Him. God is a good Father. We must return to God to restore fathers back to position.
Father, we thank You for being a good Father. Forgive us for receiving You, but not sharing You in testimony and deed. We want boldness and courage to share who You are and why we need You. Show us how to give in more ways to help the oppressed, the widows, and the orphans. We want to be builders of foundations and repairers of the breach. Give us strategy on how to spread Your love and cause reformation to take place. Soften hearts to receive Your love and to be drawn to You. Give us new levels of compassion and be a solution instead of just pointing fingers. We need You Father and know that You hear our cry. Do it for Your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
