Mommy's Garden

I Can't Find Them

Yay. My big girls get to go on a mini vacation with a close family friend! It’s a holiday weekend and the weather is supposed to be perfect for outdoor fun.  They need to bring their swimsuits. They are very excited and are packing their things.  The day before it’s time to leave, my 11 year old comes, “Mommy, I can’t find my swimsuit bottoms”. This upset me because they just got new tankinis for a spring break trip we went on. I refused to go and buy new ones because she missed placed them in her room.  How does that even happen? She has one room to maintain, which appears to be clean. Well, helping her look I found she was hiding her mess instead of actually cleaning (that’s for an entire different blog)! She looked everywhere. I looked everywhere. Bottoms nowhere to be found. I refused yet still to buy another one! I told her to go pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show her where she put it. She did it halfheartedly and came back with no results. She went to school, came home, and asked had I found them. I hadn’t. I told her to pray in the spirit and ask God to show her. She was frustrated and told me she already did.  I told her to cast her net on the other side. “Huh”? She said.

John 21:6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

Jesus’ disciples had already did what they knew how to do to catch fish. They were ready to give up. They decided that the fish weren’t there, but when Jesus told them to cast their nets they caught so many fish that their nets couldn’t contain them. So I told her to pray, go back in by faith and this time you’ll find them. She prayed, went back in and looked in all the same places. As she looked in her closet, she pulled something off the top shelf and her swim bottoms fell right down. Now, I already looked on that shelf. I took everything down and they weren’t there. She said she had took everything down before too. I believe God sent his angels to replace those swim bottoms to teach my daughter a lesson of faith. God is the same yesterday today and forever more. If you believe in heaven and hell, then let me tell you angels and demons are real. Angels are activated by our prayers

Psalm 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Matthew 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

The Word works! Put it to action and see for yourself. God is concerned about the things that concern you.

Psalm 138:8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

On the big scale of life, my daughter’s swim bottoms aren’t a huge issue, but they were an issue to her and God heard her prayers! Anything that you ask in Jesus name, if you believe, it will be given to you.

Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Father we thank You that Your word doesn’t change. We thank You that you are concerned about even the small stuff and answer our prayers.  Help us to come to you for everything that we may do things according to Your will. We want to experience all of Your goodness and benefits. Help us to believe with a new level of faith and be confident that you will hear our prayers. Lord activate our angels that have charge over us to protect, war, and minister on our behalf. Show us these teachable moments where we can put our faith in action and make an impact on our children. Help us use your word as a manual to teach our children and to live our own lives.  In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

Mothering six children is not an easy task, but by God's grace it's one of my greatest assignments. My children are 18, 15, 7, 6, 4, and 2!  I have a lot of experience at making mistakes and letting God correct me. I pray that you can learn from my trials and grow into the parent that God created you to be.
