Looking Clean Isn't Being Clean

11/30/2015

During all the Holiday festivities while working in the kitchen, the floor became noticeable dirty. The high traffic and minor spills was doing its work on my floor. My husband was doing some cleaning as I was cooking and decided to do a quick water rinse of the floor while I was still in the kitchen to get the noticeable spots. He would go back and clean with cleaning solution later. My daughter noticed and said, “Wow, the floor looks clean, you don’t need to do it over”. I responded by explaining to her that everything that looks clean isn’t. Even though there were no visible marks on the floor, there were still bacteria/germs that the water alone won’t get rid of. We all have heard the sayings, “looks can be deceiving” or, “everything that glitters isn’t gold”, and lastly everything that looks good isn’t good for you”. These are all true sayings. We can’t see the inside by on looking at the surface.

Matthew 23:25-27 (NKJV)
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.[a] 26 Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.

Jesus rebuked the religious people of His time for wanting to look good but being dead on the inside. They observed the law with their mouths and did works to be seen, but their hearts were unclean. The water of the Word of God is sure to cleanse us by renewing our minds, but without the blood of Jesus there is no power to cleanse our sins! The Word (water) by itself will only bring works. It needs the blood (cleaning solution) to take away the things on the inside that people might not initially see. The blood without the water will only wash your sin but won’t renew your mind. We need both to effectively be clean, free from the bacteria/germs (unclean thoughts/activity) that take place in our hearts and mind. Looking good is not enough. Eventually people will recognize our fruit and expose what is not clean.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 (NKJV)
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.

God wants us to be Holy. When we present ourselves to the world they should recognize that we are different. When they come into contact with us we shouldn’t be able to infect them with bacteria/germs (unclean thoughts/activity).

2 Timothy 2:20-26(NKJV)
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

God wants to use us for the good work of sharing the gospel. Our character should bring conviction and allow us to correct in love so that others can be delivered from the enemy’s plan.
So I challenge you today, as you spend your precious time beautifying your outward appearance for your day by taking a shower, washing/styling your hair, shaving, lotioning your body, apply fragrance/make-up, ironing your clothes, and all the extra things that you do to look good; to also spend at least that amount of time in prayer, repentance, thankfulness, study, and meditating on the word of God. Consider it an investment into yourself that is sure to bring a return! Let Jesus make you clean/beautiful from the inside out!

Father we thank You for the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus and the Word of God. Thank You for Your grace and mercy that takes us from faith to faith and glory to glory. Forgive us for being more concerned with what people think of us than looking at the inside to see what You think of us. Measure us by Your word and show us how to align ourselves in holiness with Your kingdom. Help us be vessels of honor that bring you glory in all that we do. Give us clean hands and pure hearts. Let us be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Let people see Your beauty as they look upon us. Help us use the cleansing power of  blood and water as a weapon to destroy the works of the devil. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Counterfeit Blessing

Preparing for the storm that was coming, I went shopping for new coats, hats, and gloves for my children. I was being very frugal with how much to spend because with 5 children it can add up pretty quickly.  It took us a while to find something that my oldest girl liked that also fit the budget, but finally we did. When we approached the register the cashier took all of the security devices off each of the coats. As she took these devices off, she accidently tore the price tag off one of them so she stuck the tag in the coat pocket. The cashier wasn’t that friendly and was acting/talking unprofessionally with another cashier. When my transaction was complete she read me the total cost. I knew it was wrong. She forgot to ring up one of the coats. I told her that the total was wrong and asked if any of the coats were on sale. After she verified that they weren’t, I told her that she must have forgotten to ring up one of them. She read through the transaction on the register and saw which one she forgot (the one with the torn tag). She was rude and never acknowledged gratefulness for my honesty, but I knew that God acknowledges every right choice that we make. If I had said nothing then I would have been guilty of stealing. A free coat because of human error is not a blessing.

Proverbs 10:22
The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.

Stealing would have brought on condemnation and opened up a door for the enemy to torment me. This is not God. I’m standing in agreement with heaven for God to release supernatural blessing in my life. Why would I put that in danger for a $60 coat? The devil will always try to get us to settle for a counterfeit blessing. He wants us to come into agreement with him so that we miss what God really wants us to have.

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

God wants to do more for us than we can even imagine, but we must wait on Him. When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, the devil offered Him what God had already promised Him if He would bow down and worship him. Jesus didn’t give in. He knew if He accepted the counterfeit, His entire purpose/destiny would be forfeited. He had to remain blameless. God wants us to be blameless too. We have to resist giving in to compromise before God releases His promise to us.

Psalm 37:7-9 (NKJV)
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret--it only causes harm.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.

It always looks as though the wrong doers are prospering, but it will only cause them harm in the end. God has a great inheritance for those who wait on Him! God will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory and we will not be in want when we put our trust in Him. Don’t let something small keep you from receiving the great reward that God has intended.

Father we thank You for the inheritance that You are about to release to us. We wait on every promise and resist the temptation to settle for the counterfeit. Forgive us for times that we have fallen short and compromised in order to receive gain. We thank You for Your mercy that allows us to repent and start new. We wait on You and trust You that You are more than able to do all that Your word says and more. Grow us in faith and endurance as we continue to press towards the mark of the high calling in Jesus Christ. We believe Your Word and expect Your blessing. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Make His Name Great

God restores our soul….. I was so broken. I was so hurt. I never could have imagined this kind of love, the love of God that has given me joy and has brought me peace that I have never experienced. I spent what seems like endless tears, endless prayers, and endless study of the Word to bring me to a place of wholeness. God’s love has restored my soul. While I am by no means perfected, I feel wholeness that I have never felt before. Each time I think that I have reached completion in a certain area; he pulls back another layer and gives me new freedom that I have never experienced.  I used to wonder why God picked me. I was consumed in my mess and filled with darkness. I was surviving to raise my girls, but not truly living. I was the walking dead. God came and restored my soul….. Why?

Psalm 23:3New King James Version (NKJV)

3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

God did it for His Glory. He restored me so that He could lead me into His righteousness to make His name great. Once our souls are restored, we should be making God’s name great in whatever we do. This doesn’t come by just shouting His name (although we shouldn’t be ashamed). This comes by everything we do. It comes by our actions, words, and responses. God’s name becomes great by our transformation. When we produce fruit from living a life that honors him He becomes magnified. When we seek to do things for His name sake, it gives Him access to work miracles, signs and wonders for His glory. If we seek to do things for our own name it limits us to our own power. We don’t have to seek our own greatness. By making His name great our names become great because we then carry His glory. God promised Abraham that He would make his name great (Genesis 12:2) and David that he would his name would be greater than all the other men of the earth (2 Samuel 7:9). Some versions say that He’ll make them famous. He did this for His glory. He kept their enemies away and blessed them to be a blessing. The more we do for God’s glory, the more honor He will place on us. God loves us all. We do not have to work for God’s love, but understand that there are benefits that we receive when we walk in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
We are only righteous through the blood of Jesus. When we sin we fall short of His glory but we repent and He forgives us for His name sake.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Isaiah 43:25 (NKJV)
25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake;
And I will not remember your sins.

God doesn’t hold our shortcomings over our heads. He will even get glory from our deliverance. He wants to use all of us. Our job is to be the best that we can be by doing everything as if we are doing it for Him.

Romans 11:36 (NKJV)
36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Matthew 5:16(NKJV)
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

So let’s let our Light shine so others will see how great is our God. We are representatives of His glory on earth. Even when we feel like nobody see’s our efforts, God is always taking notice and takes pleasure when we represent Him well.

Father we thank You for restoring our souls. Thank You that You have brought us out of darkness into Your presence of glory. Forgive us for doing things in our own strength and trying to receive glory for ourselves. All the glory belongs to you. Let everything that we do make Your name great. Lead us in the paths of righteousness and let conviction of the Holy Spirit bring us to repent when we fall short. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

3 Things That Cancel Fear

11/9/2015

When I was a little girl, I had an extreme fear of clowns. My parents used to take us occasionally to this restaurant that on certain days would bring in clowns for the kids. They would do balloon tricks and other silly things. I would be so afraid that I would hide under the table at the first glimpse of a clown entering the room. I would have night mares of clowns chasing me. It was a place of torment in my mind. I don’t remember what caused this fear. Regardless of how unusual clowns might look to a child, my response was irrational. I should have been able to be consoled by the reassuring of my parents that no harm would come to me, but I was convinced that they were going to get me. I no longer have that fear (many adults do), but there are things that I still sometimes struggle with. God does not want us to be in fear.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

So fear definitely doesn’t come from God. It is a tool that the devil uses to keep us bound. If he can keep us in fear, than he can keep us paralyzed. He will plant fear in places that will keep us from moving forward into our purpose. Our fears keep us from meeting people, going places, and ultimately doing what God is calling us to do.

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

God has giving us power! The power comes from the fullness of the cross. Jesus died to give us power over fear. We have power over all the enemy puts on our path. We can conquer our fear with faith knowing that there is nothing that the enemy can do, that Christ in us can’t overcome.

Luke 10:19
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

God has given us authority over the power of the enemy. The devil’s power tactic of fear is no match for the power of God in us. God is with us and if the enemy can make us believe that we are no match for his attacks than we are letting him win. We have to remember we aren’t operating in our own power but the power of God. There is nothing greater!

1 John 4 18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

This is where it may get tricky. We all need deliverance from different things. God often deals with our issues layers at a time. He also may take one area at a time to perfect us in. Sometimes, we have a hard time seeing ourselves as God sees us. When we see our flaws we feel insufficient to receive God’s perfect love, but God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. We all need a savior and cannot do anything outside of Him. God’s perfect love is the cross. It is not given to us because we are perfect. The love of the cross was given because we are not perfect! We have to receive God’s love completely in every area of our lives whether we feel we deserve it or not. God’s complete love makes us whole and cancels any fear that the enemy can use against us.

2 Corinthians 10: 4-6
For the weapons of are warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

A sound mind comes by fighting the enemy with the Word of God. We break the strongholds of our lives by applying God’s Word. We cast down every argument against us by using God’s Word. We bring down every prideful/haughty place in our mind by agreeing with the Word of God. A sound mind comes when we set our thoughts in agreement with God’s Word and the fullness of the cross. When we do this we are using our obedience as a tool to punish the enemy. Obedience brings a sound mind because the devil will have nothing to torment us with.
God has given us everything that we need to conquer fear. It is time to put the devil in his place. Under our feet!

Father we thank You for Your word that is rich in wisdom and instructions to live a life of fullness and purpose. We thank You for love, power and a sound mind. Forgive us for letting fear stop us from doing what you have called us to do. Be strong in our weaknesses and perfect us with Your love. We set our minds on You and bring our thoughts into obedience to Your Word. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!

What Do You Fear?

11/2/2015

While praying and standing in the presence of the Lord, I heard Him say that He wanted His people to be delivered from fear. Deliverance is simple although many will make it complicated. The very definition of deliverance is salvation.

Salvation:
   the act of saving or protecting from harm, risk, loss, destruction, etc.
  Theology. deliverance from the power and penalty of sin; redemption

Through salvation by Christ Jesus we have access to supernatural protection from harm, risk, loss, destruction, and any other evil thing. The enemy keeps us bound by fear, but God promises to free us from them all!

Psalms 34:4
4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.

Many times we hold on to things that we shouldn’t because we are afraid that we will be missing out on something. We are afraid that we will fail at functioning without it. In our own strength we will fail, but with the strength of God and His power by the Holy Spirit we are well equipped to succeed. The devil has stolen our freedom by using fear to keep us imprisoned.

Fear: a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.

If the enemy can keep us in fear, than he can keep us from our purpose and destiny. He comes and distorts our perceptions of how we see ourselves and others, how we see our circumstances and our futures. He even perverted fear itself. We are to only fear the Lord. This kind of fear even has a completely different definition. In this case fear is:
reverential awe, especially toward God: the fear of God.
Synonyms: awe, respect, reverence, veneration.

Psalms 34:7
7 The angel[a] of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.

So when we fear the Lord, He protects us and delivers us.

Psalms 34:8-10
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
9 Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.

When we fear the Lord He blesses us. He not only supplies our needs but also our wants (because they are lined up with His holiness/righteousness). We obtain access to all good things! So, what does the fear of the Lord look like?

Psalms 34:11-14
11 Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Who is the man who desires life,
And loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil,
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.

When we fear the Lord we watch what we say, we’re honest, we do what’s good according to God’s word, and we stay out of drama and run after peace. We fear Him because we are choosing to live long, prosperous, and productive lives.

The spirit of fear is a weapon of destruction that is used by the devil to keep us anxious, doubting, and in chaos. The fear of the Lord will bring us peace in every area of our lives. Today I bind up the spirit of fear operating in our lives to bring torment and destruction and loose the fear of the Lord that brings peace, provision, and goodness to our lives. I declare that we are saved delivered and completely set free from fear and are moving forward into the goodness of God and His purpose for our lives.

Father, we thank You for salvation that brings deliverance. We thank You that You have given us access to every good thing. Forgive us for holding on to fear. Today we choose to fear You alone. We activate our faith to a new level and receive Your perfect love that casts out all fear. We reject who the enemy says we are and receive our identity in You alone. We purpose ourselves to be bold and courageous as we walk in the fear of the Lord. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

The anointing of Moses is being released. The deliverer is present. Let my people go you stronghold spirit. Let go you spirit of religion. Let go you spirit of fear. Let go you spirit of mental illness. I command you to scatter. I release peace to the hearts and minds of my people. Peace to the regions. Peace to the nations. I have set a path before you, you only need to walk in it for My name’s sake. My glory will not depart. My blood will withstand your enemies says the Lord.
