Receiving Provision

6/27/2016

When I was in worship, God began to remind me of many different ways that He has provided for me. I began to see flashbacks of answers to endless intercession, rams in the bushes, and miracles of deliverance. Things may not have always gone the way that I expected them to, but God always provided!

Philippians 4:19

19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

This scripture is so amazing to me because God owns
all of the glory, so our supply never runs out! When we believe and trust God as our provider, He is sure to supply our needs.

When I first got saved, I was in a house that was in foreclosure that my soon to be ex-husband had in someone else’s name. I had just started working after we separated (making very little money with no help from the ex), had no rights to the house, and everything was falling apart. The enemy was after my faith, but I knew that God was with me. I definitely had to make a move, but until a had direction I needed God to work some miracles. It was below freezing and my furnace and dryer went out at the same time. I was washing clothes and hanging them, but they would freeze from the cold air. I had a small space heater that I would run in my bedroom and my two daughters and I would come home after I got off work and go to my room. I had a fireplace in the family room that I would light to try to dry the clothes. I was too ashamed to tell anybody what was going on. For several weeks I would put my girls with the space heater in my room, and I would go down to the furnace room, lay prostrate, cry out to God and pray. I would get up. Lay hands on the furnace and command it to work in Jesus”’ name. I would walk through the entire house and speak to every vent and tell it to blow hot air in the name of Jesus! They listened. I guess God thought if I had the faith to believe, then He would let me see His power. The heat would last through the night and stop working during the day. I would come home and do the same thing until one day it didn’t work. God showed me His power, but I didn’t belong there anymore and had to make a move. So I prayed. I asked God for a solution. I was okay with moving (even though I didn’t have a clue how I was going to be able to do it), but I needed my children to be warm until we were able. I had to tell someone. I came into church and the elder that was assigned to me asked me how I was doing. I completely broke down into a ball of tears….

We also must be humble. God often uses people to bless us and be the answer to our prayers. Pride is the enemy of receiving those type of blessings. By receiving a blessing from others we also open a door for God to bless them. In Genesis12:3 it says that God will bless those that bless you. We can’t let the devil shame and condemn us in our adversity. Our hope is in the Lord and He wants to deliver us. We have to be transparent with Him, ourselves, and those He places around us to help.

She let the church know what was going on and through their benevolence they paid someone to come fix my furnace. He was there all night and everything was going wrong. He would fix one thing and an unrelated thing would stop working. This happened three times. He said with his own words that I was under an attack and he committed himself to finish the job beyond what he was asked to do. Thank God for Believers in the workplace!

There is so much that I can add to this testimony, but I do not want to go too long. I just want to be an encouragement today to keep believing God. If you give it to Him than He will work it all out. We can’t put Him in a religious box, and we can’t let our pride get in the way of receiving our blessing. Faith and humility activates miracles. God wants to supply all of your needs!

Father, we thank You for being our provider. Forgive us for acting in pride and doubt. We trust You and give You all of our cares. We know that You supply our needs and we will have no lack. We bind up the enemy that would try to cause shame and condemnation to hinder us from receiving provision. We loose freedom, humility, and faith over us to put us in position to receive from You. We pray for divine connections and covenant relationships with Your people. Help us to also be a solution to someone else’s problem for Your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Consistency Leads To Blessing

As I sat at my computer this morning struggling to gather my thoughts, I decided to lay down for a little while longer. I wasn’t feeling my best (nothing serious, just pregnancy woes). I began to think maybe I would skip today’s writing, besides sometimes I feel like I am just writing to myself. The longer I laid there, the more conviction set in.

I am not stuck in a religious bondage where I believe God is going to punish me if I don’t write, but the thing that He spoke to me when I first launched my website was to be consistent. He said be faithful whether a million people read it or just one. I do this out of obedience to Him not for self-righteous glory. If He wants me to do it, there must be a reason, and God blesses through obedience.

Now I know there is a time for everything, even rest. I took a break during my move and will take another break when I have my baby, but I can’t just not write because I don’t feel like it. If that were the case, I probably wouldn’t write very much!

We often miss our blessings by submitting to our flesh. Procrastination is an enemy that will keep us from our destiny. Consistency is an attribute of Jesus. It is His very nature.

Hebrews 13:8
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

If we long to be more like Jesus than we should be consistent in our character.

Philippians 1:27
Striving and Suffering for Christ
27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,

At home, at church, at work, at the store, or anywhere else we should have a single mind that is set on Jesus. This will cause stability in our character because a double minded man is unstable in all of his ways (James 1:8). When people hear what others are saying about us, it should match their personal experience with us. We should be walking worthy of our purpose in Jesus even when no one else is looking.

When we are consistent it sets up a bank of trust with God and with man. We prove to be faithful and we establish a good name. In Ecclesiastes 7:1 it says that a good name is better than precious ointment. God promises to increase us when we are faithful with the little that we start with.

Matthew 25:21
His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

God wants us to use what He gives us and cause it to increase. Obedience will cause multiplication.

Genesis 22:17-18
17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.  18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

We are heirs of Abraham. God has given us the gates of our enemies! We must rule over them with the consistency of His Word. It’s time to stop being lazy and making excuses. We can no longer give in to our feelings, we must press past our flesh and be faithful to our assignment, no matter how small it seems. God will not increase us until we are faithful. In fact, He will take what we have and give it to someone else (Matthew 25:24-30)!

I charge you to reactivate the assignment that you put down. Repent for being inconsistent and lazy with what God has assigned to you and start fresh. Thank God that He is consistent and His mercy endures forever! He always gives us a chance to get it right when our hearts are turned towards Him!

Father, we thank You that Your Word is everlasting and You are the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. Forgive us for not being consistent with what You have given us. Help us push past our flesh and move forward in obedience. We want to be worthy of our call and increase what You have given us. We stand at the gate of our enemy who wants to steal our purpose knowing that we have dominion and authority over them. We no longer will passively let them take what is rightfully ours. We stand on Your Word because we know that it is true. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

It's Not As Bad As It Looks!

I was on my way to a special event this past weekend when my car started to make a rumble sound and jerk. I looked down and my car’s low fuel light was on. I don’t remember being low on gas, but maybe I was too busy to notice. I had just passed a gas station. My car didn’t seem like it was even running anymore, but by the grace of God a made a U-turn and made it to the gas station. I put some gas in the tank, turned the ignition, and nothing happened (we think it’s the alternator). I was literally 3 minutes away from my destination. This was the cherry on top of what had already been a frustrating week. So many things fell apart at the seams. I did a lot of running around with very little accomplished. Obstacles, roadblocks, and attacks where trying to steal my peace!

So here I am in 96-degree weather. I’m stuck at a gas station with no air conditioning and my phone isn’t working properly. It is freezing up and cutting on and off for no reason. I was able to call my husband who had the day off and was at home with the kids.  He wasn’t planning on going anywhere, so I took the van that had the working air conditioning, but also had all of the car seats. He called the tow truck, packed the kids into the car, and came to save me. The tow truck was late. We waited for three hours in the smoldering heat with the babies in the back seat.

Although all of this seems horrible, it could have been worse! I sat drenched in sweat in perfect peace. I thank God that this happened to me on a day that my husband had off work and the babies weren’t stranded with me on my errands. While my car dying is tragic, how convenient to die pulled over at a gas station and not in the middle of the road. Although we were hot and hungry, we had access to the gas station store to buy water and snacks. While this is definitely an unexpected expense in a sea of other things that we need to take care of, our insurance company just sent us an unexpected check because of an overpayment that we had no idea that we made!

It’s all in our perspective. How we respond and how we view things is gaged by what we believe and what we feed our minds. God promises to care of all of our needs. He promises to never leave us. When we know this to be true we can rest in the difficult times knowing deliverance is coming!

Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

So as we dive into the Word of God soaking in all of His goodness, glory, and promises, we gain the mind of Christ. We can have peace in every situation because we know that He is going to work it out!

Today I encourage you to know that it is not as bad as it looks. God is working on your behalf. Ask Him to see with the eyes of Christ.  Gain His perspective by getting into His Word. Don’t give up. There are blessings waiting for you that you haven’t even imagined yet!

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

Father, we thank you that you are mindful of us in every situation. Forgive us for looking at how things go wrong instead of seeing your hand in our situation. We trust You and know that You will work ALL things together for our good. We want to be transformed by a renewed mind. Help us see things with the eyes of Christ. We believe that you are able to exceed our expectations. Give us peace in every situation. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Receive More Grace!

6/6/2016

As I go through the many seasons of life, I always take time to reflect on what He has already brought me through. God is so faithful and his promises are true! Even in knowing that, it can still be frustrating waiting on what God has promised. Some seasons can be long and hard. Sometimes we look up and ask “how did I get here”?  Every process serves a purpose and it is only by the grace of God that we make it through.

Grace is the source of our endurance. Without it we would die in our own sin. It is given to us by God and we only need faith in Jesus to receive it.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Grace is overridden by legalistic religion. If we hold ourselves to the standard of the law, we cancel out the grace that God has been given to us through the ministry of Jesus.

John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Acts 15:10-11New King James Version (NKJV)
10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?  11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ[a] we shall be saved in the same manner as they.”

When we hold ourselves to the law, we are putting an unbearable yoke on ourselves. This is not an excuse to sin. We are to walk according to the Word. It does give us a chance to repent and get it right. God does not want any soul to perish. He wants us to learn to walk in good character, with integrity, and love. When we choose to walk uprightly, He promises not to withhold any good thing!

Psalm 84:11New King James Version (NKJV)
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

God’s grace has many facets. We all need a different measure for different assignments. God’s grace is a gift to us to execute these assignments. We are to use the grace over our gifts to minister to others. When we use our gifts, we are being good stewards over the grace that God has given us.

1 Peter 4:10
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

There have been many times in my life where I have felt incapable of completing the task before me. I’ve wanted to give up and just settle. But then I’m reminded of this scripture….

2 Corinthians 12:9
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me

When we rely on God’s grace, the pressure to perform is gone because it is not us that is working but the grace of God within us. While resting in this scripture, there have still been times where I have felt like I’ve needed more grace. It might seem selfish, but I need all the grace that God has to offer. There are two ways that God promises to give you more:
1.  Coming boldly to his throne
2.  Being humble
For this reason, I consistently pray for humility!

Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

James 4:6
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

He gives more grace. Thank You Jesus! I need more. God is not greedy. He is able to give us more than all that we need. He never half way blesses us with something. He is able to give as much as He wants, to who He wants, and when He wants. There are no limits! This is why all things are possible with God!

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

Grace makes us strong. It is our enduring power. Grace doesn’t eliminate hardships, but causes us to get through them and teach others from them. This is what making disciples is all about. This is what Jesus commissioned us to do. This is what makes us good soldiers in the army to advance the Kingdom of God.

2 Timothy 2:1-3New King James Version (NKJV)
Be Strong in Grace
2 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.  3 You therefore must endure[a] hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Our hardships aren’t for nothing. It is our training ground to become who He has called us to be. He promises after suffering that He will perfect, establish, strengthen and settle us!

1 Peter 5:10
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

So we must endure to the end, relying on God’s grace knowing that without it we cannot withstand the enemy. Cry out for grace and surrender to humility. Watch God pour more grace upon you in abundance.

Father, we thank You for Your grace. Forgive us for being proud and thinking our gifts and talents are sufficient. We know that we cannot accomplish anything good on our own. We need Your grace. We need more grace. Keep us humble and help us be good stewards over the grace that You have given us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
